There is much to discover in our region

The surroundings of the Stiftsgut Keysermühle offer wonderful destinations for nature lovers, hikers, cyclists and connoisseurs of culture and good food.

Region of pleasure between forest and vines

The Stiftsgut is located in the midst of one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Germany! The magnificent Pfälzer Wald Nature Park with its castles, climbing rocks and wonderful views over the Rhine plain stretches out to the west, while the gentle vineyard hills sweep down to the Rhine in the east.
„Pure life – enjoyment for all the senses“ is the region’s philosophy of life. The people of the Palatinate know what is good, what does you good, how to enjoy life: Romantic wine villages with a high quality of life, excellent wines, good food ranging from hearty to culinary delicacies, and a colourful array of cultural events of all kinds.

Let yourself be carried away by the cosy
way of life in the Southern Palatinate

We are happy to arrange hours of enjoyment for you: Wine tastings at trusted winegrowers, guided tours of vineyards, current festival and cultural calendars, tour suggestions to the most beautiful wine villages in the region and in neighbouring Alsace.

Our recommendations for special activities in the region

The major hiking routes such as the southern route of the Palatinate Way of St. James and the Palatinate Wine Trail run directly past the house. Many small day hikes are possible, for example the Dreiburgenwanderung (three-castle hike) directly from the house via the Schlössel and Heidenschuh castles to Landeck Castle, which towers proudly over the idyllic winegrowing village of Klingenmünster.

Since the Haardtrand offers an ideal view over the beautiful Rhine plain, attractive castles also await in the neighbouring villages, which are also interesting excursion destinations for families with children. We recommend the old Staufer castle Trifels near Annweiler, the Berwartstein castle near Erlenbach and the Madenburg castle near Eschbach.

Climbing enthusiasts will have a wonderful time in the Dahner Felsenland and mountain bikers can enjoy the mountain bike park in the Palatinate Forest.

Towards the east, the gentle vineyard hills extend into the Rhine plain. This is a wonderful place for cycling. An excellent network of cycle paths offers ideal conditions. The Klingbachradweg leads directly past the house, from Dahn to Germersheim, where the Klingbach flows into the Rhine. Other attractive cycle paths include the Kraut- und Rüben-Radweg (cabbage and turnip cycle path), which leads all the way to the Rhine, the Petronella-Rhein-Radweg (Petronella Rhine cycle path) and the German-French Paminaradweg Lautertal. You can find a route planner for exciting and varied tours here.

Our Nature park – an oasis of peace

The Stiftsgut Keysermühle is surrounded by a 7,000 square metre nature park with old trees. Situated in the centre of Klingenmünster, it is a powerful place of peace and relaxation, cared for with dedication by the Foundation’s staff and also open to the public during the day.

We invite you to take a walk

The centre of the park is the main meadow, which invites you to laze, picnic, play and dance and is ideal for parties and large events. To the north, a labyrinth of flowers and herbs leads to the historic monastery wall, where you will find a wonderful shady spot to linger under an impressive old weeping willow.

A view to the east opens up onto an old meadow orchard with wonderfully gnarled apple trees. An avenue leads to a fireplace that invites you to romantic evenings by the fire with good conversation.

Next to it, the seating area by the stream offers an idyllic spot to send one’s thoughts chasing after the splashing of the water. In summer, children also like to use the spot for splashing around or building dams. For adults, the refreshing stream is popular for treading water.

At the east end of the park, a tree-trunk Mikado and a low ropes course invite you to train your balance and perceive new perspectives.

Passing a beautiful willow snail, you reach the herb garden of the Stiftsgut.

Everything a connoisseur’s heart desires grows there. More than 100 aromatic and medicinal herbs, edible flowers, tomatoes and berries are harvested daily and brought to the Stiftsgut kitchen, where they are turned into a delicious treat for the palate. The many flowers are a feast for the eyes and a refuge for many butterflies.

Discover the history of the Keysermühle

„At the Kaisermühle, the road leads through these walls, which enclose a pretty little garden by the mill stream with a large bird hedge“, this is how the writer and local poet August Becker (1828-1891), who came from Klingenmünster, described in simple words what you can still discover today at the Keysermühle Abbey Estate: harmonious, inviting beauty. How the former mill of the former Benedictine abbey „clinga monasterium“ (today „Klingenmünster)“ developed into the Stiftsgut Keysermühle, we will gladly tell you personally during your visit.
For all those who are already curious about the history of our house and park, we have provided a small information brochure. You can find more detailed information here.
